Annie designed the artwork to flow around the many essential architectural elements of the unit like doors and signage and to have interactive elements in it as well. The Wording on the wall is read by students when heading into the classroom. There are two age groups of patients on the unit the artwork strikes a balance between playful and sophisticated. This aquatic-themed mural is placed so visitors and staff exiting the locked portion of the unit have a beautiful and calming image to see. It was important to staff that even the small details in the waiting room indicate to patients and families they will be cared for. Each room on the unit has artwork on the walls. The artwork is the same in each age groups room to minimize the need for patients to compare artwork or rooms. Birds were used in the your children's rooms and trees were used in the adolescent rooms.
