how does Annie’s work go from a sketch on paper
to a papercut to something else?
Each papercut starts with a series of sketches.
These are sketches for collaboration with BHLDN
for their Art of love Campaign
From the first series of rough sketches, the design is refined into a final drawing with most details finalized.
Then the real fun begins!
The sketch is transferred onto the back of the drawing paper. From there, Annie painstakingly cuts away any symmetrical details of the design, such as the border. She meticulously cuts away smaller and smaller pieces of the papercut, until all elements are revealed. Once the papercut is complete, Annie scans the papercut and turns it into a digital file for the client or designer to transform into a product or illustration! The sky is the limit for what these papercuts can become.
